Karla Neu of True Color Photography wanted to collaborate with her friend, Kelsey Hann, co-owner of White Dahlia Events. Together, they dreamt up a modern, country styled shoot at Hidden Vineyard Wedding Barn, desiring to add a new twist to a classic style. “Kelsey really took it from there with her expertise in wedding design. She rents out the most amazing farm tables, so we thought those would work perfectly!" Karla says. "From the soft floral designs layered with geometric candleholders, vintage goblets, succulents and a modern menu, everything went together in such a lush way!”

Kelsey explains, “It all started with the idea to hand-build rustic farm tables for my brothers wedding, then use those tables to create my own boutique event rental company. Once we had one of the tables completely built (my husband and I built them), the rest of the decor fell in place. I love the simplicity and warmth of a natural color palette. I felt that the greenery and touches of copper and gold were the perfect complement to the farm tables. I just loved the idea of doing a soft, modern, country styled shoot.”

Despite the wind and cold, the team was warmed by Hidden Vineyard’s heat lamps and were able to keep the decor in place. “We were so excited to have our model Jessica wear one of Simply Yours' dresses,” says Kala. “When I arrived at the shoot and saw the cake and flowers, I was speechless! I could not wait to start taking pictures. It was a dream come true!” The gown’s button up back and intricate beadwork and neckline were elegant and classic, yet still modern. “I loved the neckline and exposed shoulder, which was a nice touch to complement the trends of this summer,” says Karla. The bride’s hair was styled into a soft, low updo with subtle vintage hints, and her makeup was kept tp a natural esthetic.

Kelsey knew the stunning barn was the perfect location, it fulfilled her dream of shooting there and flawlessly tied into their look. From the rustic wood and gorgeous country setting to added details like pretty chandeliers, it was a must. She says, “The venue was so user-friendly, and when the wind got really strong on the porch, they even had weatherproof shades we could lower to block the wind and got the shots we wanted.”

Sandy of Sandy’s Floral Boutique did an amazing job bringing the elegant yet natural vision to life using roses, hydrangeas, eucalyptus, ruscus, and other kinds of greenery, nailing the natural-looking, elegant look.

Maddie of LinedGoods also designed a custom-designed suite, perfect for the decor. C’est la Vie Cakes created the mouth-watering cake.

The rentals included the White Dahlia Events farm tables as well as dishes, glassware, and silverware from Kelsey’s own personal collection. “Since I’m such a new company, I’m willing to work with a bride and find items that fit her style and needs,” Kelsey says. “I’m constantly adding to my inventory!”

WHAT WE LOVE

Crossback chairs are certainly trending right now and we love how this team used chairs that included modern metal as well. Kelsey, however, believes she has found a trend of her own. “I like to think I’m starting my own trend with the fireplace mantle cake table,” she says.”I had found the mantle in my grandmother’s basement and thought it would be such a fun idea! I just love how it turned out! It is also available in my rental inventory.”
