Are you feeling more and more like the “off season” is basically a myth when it comes to the wedding industry? Once upon a time, wedding season referred to some time between May and September, but now that fall AND winter weddings are in high demand, there really isn't a recovery season anymore. We certainly can empathize because we have been crazy busy at WeddingDay Magazine.
As most of you know, in 2015, we re-developed our website www.weddingday-online.com. Our goal for the new site was to give more prominence to the wedding vendors that our brides were looking for. We revised and re-launched our entire digital strategy at WeddingDay to better serve our brides and vendors. Some of our initiatives were to feature more local weddings, style shoots, advice-style blogs with vendor contributions, run contests promoting the work of vendors, and much more. In essence, our goal is to showcase more of what you do.
So here is what you can do to get published online:
- Submit featured weddings
- Submit a style shoot
- Suggest blog topics that you want to write about or you want us to write about. We'll include your advice and contribution!
- Participate in our social media vendor contests (follow us on Facebook and Instagram so you don't miss out!)
- Tag @weddingdaymagazine on Instagram if you have an Instagram photo you want to submit to our weekly Instagram blog
- Partner with WeddingDay to get exclusive benefits in print, on the web, and on social media.
In December of 2015, we reassessed our goals and initiatives. We designed an integrated marketing strategy of how we could more effectively connect our brides to vendors. On January 1, 2016, we launched our plan. That's why since the new year, we have already attended five bridal shows and handed out over 2,100 copies of the magazine. That's why one of our digital issues has made over 21,000 impressions. That's why we increased our total social media following to almost 7,000 people. That's why our recent vendor contest on Facebook reached almost 100,000 people. That's why in the matter of a month, we increased our website traffic over 300 percent.
We put everything on hold to take a step back and plan for the future. We figured out what we wanted, what we didn't want, what was holding us back, and how we could be a better resource for our valued vendors and an even better resource for our beloved brides. How did we accomplish this? Goals, deadlines, steps, adjustments, and setbacks were all very necessary to our process. But the non-negotiable element to all of this was having a vision. We had to recognize where we were, but look forward to where we wanted to be.
We encourage you to do the same with your wedding business. Take some time and step out of the rush and reassess, readjust, redefine, rejuvenate. You don't have time to not do this! And don't forget that you have an available resource in WeddingDay Magazine. To learn more about what WeddingDay can do for you, click here.
