A Style Shoot in a Dreamy Lavender Field

One of our favorite aspects of stylized weddings is seeing how a team of vendors totally transform places and spaces based on a vision, and fueled by their talents. This particular style shoot was set up in the serene countryside of a little town in Michigan and put much of the spotlight on the organic beauty of the surroundings. Breanna Bell of Breanna Bell Photography had it in her heart to create a bridal session in an ethereal setting. She was especially drawn to the natural beauty of lavender fields. Breanna found her perfect "dreamy lavender hillside" when she discovered The Lavender Hills Farm in Niles, Michigan. The outcome was nothing short of lovely, complete with a setting sun.

The Lavender Hill Farm is what Breanna describes as an "undiscovered gem" in southwest Michigan. It does not advertise itself as a wedding venue, but instead serves as a U-pick farm for lavender and lavender products. According to Breanna, the style shoot really centered around this location as the supporting elements were selected based off the colors and vibe of the field.

Lavender was obviously the center-stage color of the shoot, but details of gold, sage and ivory stepped in to round out the color palette. The floral designer, Flowers by Anna came up with beautiful arrangements using various shades of the selected color palette. The bouquet almost stole the spotlight from the stunning bride with a natural display of stock, limonium, wadflower, cusion mums, football mums, roses, ranunculus, alstromeria lilies, seeded eucalyptus, lavender and Italian ruscus.

Meanwhile, the tablescape was kept simple, yet elegant with handmade lavender linen cloth napkins and a lace table runner, made by Breanna's sister. They spray painted the candlestick holders, utensils and plate chargers to be gold. Flowers by Anna completed the look with a centerpiece that used a fresh array of larkspur, stock. lavender, limonium, alstromeria lilies, roses, seeded eucalyptus and Italian ruscus in a vintage rose gold goblet vase.

Breanna contacted a local calligrapher, A Foraged Affair to create the invitation suite. They designed a purple watercolor suite that matched the theme. The cake, designed by C'est La Vie Cakes was the other standalone element to this shoot. The three-tiered cake added a touch of illusion with the meandering frosted look.

The bride was every bit as lovely as her surroundings. She wore a Calla Blanche gown from Memories Bridal and Evening Wear in Kalamazoo. The Nadine (#16109) is a gorgeous, long-sleeved lace and tulle gown with a plunging back that accented the model's figure with perfection. Ashley Phend was the hairstylist for the shoot and styled the bride's hair in a long, loose braid that kept the look simple, while simultaneously showing off the back of the dress. The bride's makeup was done by Katrina Ashley of Hair Innovations and Day Spa. The makeup was kept simple except for smoky eyes.
