Blue Hues: An Ethereal Chicago Style Shoot

The city of Chicago can be an inspiring place, which is why Michelle Nikitaras of Unveiled Weddings and Events and Allie Rinka of Allie and John Photography decided to shoot a beautiful blue style shoot in the windy city. Michelle says, “Our styles just mesh well together and Allie wanted to do something very ethereal and light. She always has a very specific vision and I love her artistic mind. We opted to incorporate a little bit of color using the cobalt blue and touches of chestnut.”

Of course you can't think of Chicago without picturing Lake Michigan. The team used the beauty of the lake and the summer season as additional inspiration. Michelle notes, “The lovely flowing water of lake Michigan was in our heads. Chicago is such a beautiful city and the possibilities are endless.” The team chose to shoot at DWP Studio, a simplistic and minimalist venue space that can be transformed to match any vision.

A palette of bright blue hues was used in the design and decor. Bold spots of cobalt blue added an eye-catching appeal to the tablescape. The florals, also designed by Unveiled Weddings and Events, mimicked the ethereal feelings of the decor as well. Michelle says, “We used quicksand roses, garden roses, anthurium, white sweet pea, Phalaenopsis orchids and fluffy astilbe.”

A beautiful, lace gown from Something Blue Bridal added to the soft, romantic vibe of the shoot. The bride was given a delicate, wavy updo by Elegance by Kim that perfectly framed her face for a timeless look. Artistry like BAM created a brown, smokey eye for a natural look.

Rebeca Lynn Calligraphy created stationery with light blue accents to highlight the essence of the nearby lake. Another detail that helped complete the shoot was the sea foam green cake decorated with succulents from Alliecakes, which added an organic, earthy layer to the shoot.
