Industrial Elegance is Blooming in WeddingDay’s Exclusive Grand Rapids Digital Cover Shoot

The Vision

Spring is here, and we’re showcasing some gorgeous pastel designs in our Grand Rapids digital cover shoot! Brittany Chesney, head planner and owner of 1945 Event Co., drew on the fresh and organic elements of Michigan’s natural environment for this cover shoot. “I wanted to bring in natural bright florals and mix that with a classic elegant vibe,” Brittany says. With this in mind, Brittany and her team created a shoot that is the perfect contrasting combination of delicate, organic elegance and a modern industrial backdrop. With stunning images captured by Jessie Silva, this elevated celebration is simply blooming with romance!

The Venue

With enchanting exposed brick, rustic hardwood floors, and lots of natural light, The Harris Building had just the right character for this blooming shoot. The Harris Building’s mixture of modern and classic style made it easy for the team to create a fresh, outdoorsy environment, even indoors. “Our natural elements of fun florals and fresh greenery really brought in the springtime feel to the space,” Brittany adds.

The Look

This bride’s look is the perfect mixture of luxury and whimsy. The long, cathedral-like gown from Dearly Loved Bridal glitters with modern elegance. “We wanted to go more classic elegance for the dress and nothing form-fitting or boho,” says Brittany. The model’s makeup, styled by Brittany Andring: Makeup Artist, draws on the light pink shades from the color palette to introduce a blushing look. Her hair, styled by Glammed by Samm, is curled and tucked into a unique braid that trails down her back. Jewelry provided by 1945 Event Co. and a fresh floral comb tie in a touch of spring to the look! The groom’s light gray suit, also from Dearly Loved Bridal, provides the perfect color complement to the bride’s refined look!

The Cake

This three-tiered cake from Sugar & Spice Bakeshop truly steals the spotlight as a stunning centerpiece to the dessert table. Cake designer Mona took this confection to a whole new level by painting a custom floral design right onto the icing. Separating the top layers with a garden ball and topping it off with fresh florals, this springtime dessert couldn’t get any sweeter!

The Florals

Bright, natural colors abound in this shoot, all thanks to the talent of Alex Nazar Floral LLC. Focal flowers such as tulips, roses, snapdragons and hydrangeas were used because of their gentle, refined appeal. Native wildflowers and greenery were added to the arrangements to bring about a fuller, Michigan meadow feeling. Alex adds, “We wanted to emphasize the elegant and delicate textures that springtime brings to mind while complementing the décor and creating an immersive visual experience.”

The DÉcor

Not only is this shoot full of bright colors, but rich textures help this springtime shoot burst to life. The chiavari chairs, tablecloths and napkins from Special Occasions LLC add a fresh twist on classic elegance. Pink vintage wine glasses, delicate bud vases, and clear glasses, provided by 1945 Event Co., create a sweet and show-stopping tablescape. Brittany notes, “The floral plates and wine glasses added that sweet springtime touch.” Gorgeous watercolor detail on the stationery from Invitations by Caitlin top off this flowery look. The mitten-shaped RSVP card even showcases some Michigan pride!
