With new venues opening up comes new opportunities for style shoots! When Sheila from Copper and Lace saw the new Alaska Haus, she knew immediately that she wanted to style a shoot there. "I love to highlight new venues, and this site was amazing!" Sheila raves. The only struggle during the shoot was finding the perfect lighting for Kellie of Hetler Photography since there were so many large windows throughout the venue. But this pro photographer handled the task with ease producing these stunning photos!
The theme came to Sheila right away. "We had different options, but I wanted to capture an elegant and not too glittery fashion," Sheila explains. We think she succeeded in bringing her vision to life! With subtle touches that remind us of the 1960s, this shoot oozes glamour that isn't over-the-top. It was the history of the venue that inspired Sheila. Built in 1880 as a church, the Alaska Haus was completely renovated in 2021 to be historical with a modern flair.
Sheila took several different settings with her to best achieve the look she was going for at the new venue. All the table sets looked refined and fancy without cluttering the table to best fit the theme. The team decided to add pink and purple touches throughout the décor to add a subtle pop to the otherwise simple color palette. This can best be seen in the floral pieces and some of the signage around the venue. One of our favorite pieces is the stationery and signage from Pretty Petal Papers. The black and white contrast is simple yet so elegant and sleek!
The bride is where the 1960s theme truly comes to life. Her high-necked dress from Annie Lane Bridal is so classic, but the open-back design adds modernity to the entire piece. We love the long veil that brings a tone of regality to her overall look. For hair and makeup, the stylists chose to keep her natural beauty the highlight with bouncy curls and natural makeup.
We are obsessed with the style of that cake! In fact, it doesn't even look like a cake at all. The stunning fondant icing around the confection looks like it is draped in a covering, and the floral accent is a gentle, colorful detail. Though this design is rather simple, it is still jaw-dropping and looks delicious! If the cake wasn't enough for this wedding's guests, the creative team also incorporated macarons for their guests to enjoy on the go!
