A Vintage-Inspired Grand Rapids E-Session: The Engagement of Nicole and Calvin

Calvin and Nicole first met in high school theater then spent the summer getting to know each other. Despite the fear of crocodiles popping out to get her, Nicole still enjoyed Calvin's proposal by a lake at a nature preserve in Houston, Texas. Nicole explains, "We’ve been together for 9 years already, lasting through long-distance college and the tricky paths of growing up!"
 

Instead of searching high and low for the perfect ring, Calvin already had one he knew Nicole would love. Calvin was able to utilize one of his grandmothers' simple yet stunning rings. The intricately-designed gold band comes together to hold a beautiful round diamond. "I love it because it fit perfectly on the first try so it was meant to be," Nicole gushes.
 

Finding a photographer both Calvin and Nicole felt comfortable with wasn't difficult either. Nicole's aunt is friends with Kara of Kara Hanes Photography. "My aunt gifted us her services for our wedding, and we were so excited to have someone we already knew which made doing the photos way more comfortable and fun," Nicole raves. We love the way these vintage-inspired photos came out!
 

When it came to planning, Nicole and Calvin already knew what they wanted for their wedding. "We wanted to create a blend of both traditional American weddings and his Vietnamese culture while sticking to our own sense of style," Nicole says. "Planning blended culture weddings are difficult but it’s fun to create an event that means bringing together not only ourselves but two families." They decided on an antique woodland fairytale theme with lots of greenery and vintage elements to bring their vision to life. We can't wait to see how it turns out!
