After nearly a lifetime of friendship, Sadie and Jay started dating their senior year of high school and haven't looked back since. When it time for the engagement, Jay took Sadie out to a nice dinner while his dad set up a fire in their wood-burning fireplace at home. They returned to warm up by the fire for a while before Jay pulled Sadie to her feet and proposed. The two then spent a while together enjoying the moment before friends and family joined them to celebrate!
The ring that Sadie got from Jay is actually part of a family heirloom. "Jay’s great-grandmother gave him a diamond before she passed away, and he took it to a jeweler and picked out a gorgeous ring to have it set in," Sadie shares. "The most special part about the ring is I get to have a piece of his great- grandmother, whom I was blessed to know personally, with me forever." The gorgeous emerald-cut diamond is surrounded by six smaller diamonds and set into a twisted white gold band!
Being very outdoorsy people, Sadie and Jay began to look for a natural setting with trees and a trail to have their engagement photos taken. They ended up choosing St. Patrick's park in South Bend, and we think it was a perfect choice! Since Jay has been a cattle farmer all his life, he loves all things country. Sadie let him choose an outfit—that consisted of a black shirt, jeans, boots and a cream Stetson hat. From there, she picked out something that would complement his style.
"When I got engaged, I really didn’t know anything other than I wanted to keep things simple but invite as many of my loved ones as I could," Sadie explains. The happy couple ended up landing on a rustic chic theme for their wedding, and the planning has gone well so far. There have been plenty of friends and family members to help and support Sadie and Jay through their process. They cannot wait to get married!
