Some love stories come with a little history, and for Samantha and Adam, theirs began more than a decade ago. The two first met while working together at Red Robin, eventually reconnecting 10 years later and finding their way into each other’s lives again. What started as a familiar connection grew into something worth celebrating—and now, they’re looking forward to saying “I do!”

Adam’s proposal was especially meaningful, taking place at the restaurant where the couple has celebrated their anniversary every year since they began dating. He surprised Samantha with bride-themed gifts and a customized book he had made just for her, creating a thoughtful moment in a place already filled with memories.

When it came to the ring, Samantha knew exactly what she wanted. The couple shopped together, and she selected a simple design that would let the diamond take the spotlight. “I wanted something simple that accentuated the stone,” she shares.

For their engagement session, Samantha and Adam chose the iconic Fox Theatre in Detroit, a location that holds a special place in Samantha’s heart. Adam works downtown and suggested the setting, while Samantha has loved the theatre’s historic beauty since childhood. Having attended shows there over the years, the venue offered a meaningful backdrop for a milestone in their own love story.

Choosing Reese Oliver Photography to capture this season of their lives was an easy decision. He has photographed Samantha’s family for the past eight years, making him a familiar and trusted presence behind the camera. “It felt right to ask him to share this season of my life with us as well!” Samantha shares.

The couple wanted their photos to have an old Hollywood feel. They settled on formal black-and-white looks that complemented the theatre’s timeless character. The result was an elegant, classic aesthetic that felt right at home among the venue’s historic details!

Although Samantha had a pretty good idea of what she wanted for their wedding when they got engaged, she’s still working through some of the details along the way. So far, the planning process has been a smooth one, thanks in part to the support they have around them.
