2020 Style Shoot Design Contest Submission: A Retro Palm Springs Escape

Get ready to go retro in this submission to our 2020 Style Shoot Design Contest! Wanting to create a bright, bold theme, Melanie Kennedy, owner of The Grand LV, thought outside-the-box of a traditional Midwest wedding. Bringing the bright colors of Palm Springs to the shoot, Melanie and her team created a stunning day in the tropics!

Move over paper--these wooden invitations and place markers steal the show! 

Melanie wanted to showcase the blue ceiling of the venue, drawing on a tropical theme. The colorful linens and tableware, provided by AAYS Event Rentals, helped round out this shoot’s citrus feel. "We were also able to include a neon sign from AAYS. Those are pretty trendy at the moment, and it was a perfect complement!" she says. 
 

The bouquet, bride’s ring and the groom’s suit were styled in Classic Blue, the 2020 Pantone Color of the Year. We love how these little details can showcase big colors!

This geometric fondant cake leaves our mouths watering. The bold citrus colors of yellow, gold and neon blue make this confection a delicious statement piece. “It was really unfortunate that we were instructed not to eat it,” Melanie jokes.

Wanting to stay true to the retro theme, Melanie went looking for a dress with a shorter length. The team was absolutely thrilled with the gown they found! A vintage birdcage veil and a few colorful fascinators placed over the model’s full, curly hair kept a soft, vintage look. A bold coral lip added a pop of color to this stunning bride!
