8 Ways to Party in Indianapolis for the Bachelorette Party

Bachelorette parties aren't quite what they used to be and I personally, am more than okay with that. A bachelorette party is really a rite of passage, but for some who are envisioning selling sucker bouquets, doing 1-2-3 tequila shots and wearing flashing LED light tiaras, it can quickly become a night to endure rather than to enjoy.

I, for one, just don't have it in me to do one more bachelorette scavenger hunt or play “guess who bought the lingerie” game. I definitely enjoy any opportunity or excuse to have a girls' night out, but I am officially burnt out on the drink-til-we-drop tradition. Fortunately, more and more brides are looking to bond with their best girls in more creative and memorable ways. There are plenty of opportunities to indulge in a few refreshing takes on bachelorette parties and we just so happened to have found them all in Indiana's favorite hot spot: Indianapolis. First Things First

A great night out requires great hair. That's non-negotiable. And we've got you covered with a few blowout-for-the-night-out options!

 

WIP Downtown

Head to WIP in downtown and hit up their blow dry bar. All of your girls can receive a special group rate for a blowout of your choice, which includes a shampoo, scalp massage, and style for $35. There is also professional makeup application available.

 

Salon01

Before you head into the big city for the night, pamper yourself at Salon01 in Carmel, just 30 minutes from downtown Indy. Blowouts are $30 and you can rent the salon for private parties!

 

G Michael Salon

This salon knows what it's doing when it comes to the blow dry bar concept! There are several options you can choose—the basic blowout being $40, but you can even have your stylist come to you!

 

La Dolce Salon

Another fine blowout establishment is La Dolce Salon, located 30 minutes north of downtown Indy. Their blowouts include three options ranging from $35 to $45. You can choose a basic shampoo blowout, a special style blowout or a blowout with a conditioning treatment. Makeup services including airbrush makeup and lash extensions are also available!

Go on a Food Tour

Move over pub crawls—there's a new taste-and-tour concept in town. Taste Indy Food Tours takes participants through the metropolitan's best culinary hotspots allowing them to experience several dining establishments and menus in one day. The tour is on foot and includes four to five stops with small specialty plates served at each. There are three neighborhoods in Indy available for foodie tours: Massachusetts Avenue, Wholesale District and Fountain Square—all of which offer their own eclectic dining experience. If you're a foodie and are looking for an experiential dining alternative for your party, a food tour is for you! 

 

Paint and Drink

Paintbrush in one hand and a cocktail in the other—it's the combination for a laid-back girls night that incorporates both activities and social drinking (we call this the best of both worlds). Most painting party facilities accommodate for private parties so you and the ladies can have a room and instructor to yourselves! Plus, you get to pick the canvas you'd like to paint so everyone walks away with a memorable keepsake of your night. We recommend Wine and Canvas in north Indy or Mimosa and a Masterpiece on Massachusetts Avenue in downtown.

 

Attend a Mixology Class

You know how to drink 'em, but do you know the actual craftsmanship that goes into mixing a cocktail? Gather the girls and sign up for a mixology class at Plat 99, The Alexander's Mixology Lounge. The swanky lounge offers original cocktails, small plates and unparalleled views of downtown Indianapolis. Plat 99 offers private “Pour and Play” events that allow you and your friends to sit back and learn how to create signature cocktails from scratch! Alright, you know this classic bachelorette event had to make the list. We would be serving you an injustice if we didn't at least mention the suggestion of taking a seductive dance lesson. If you're worried about it being too risque, don't—it's more so designed to be an empowering experience for women! It's also a completely laughable endeavor because really, who is good at this stuff unless they've secretly been practicing? Pole dancing lessons are the most common and Indy Pole Fitness (see, it's just exercising, Mom!) offers lessons for private parties. If poles aren't your thing, Pur the Company offers several packages designed with bachelorette parties in mind! The packages include pin-up style hairstyling, makeovers and burlesque dance lessons! Sign up for a Pedal Pub

Hopefully you have experience the wonder that is the pedal pub by now. And for those who haven't, it's time. Pedal pubs are crowd-size bicycles that are built to move about cities while the cyclists drink and bar hop. The concept, although simple, is rather revolutionary, don't you think? The HandleBar in Indianapolis can accommodate up to 16 guests and offers routes in two key locations in Indianapolis.

 

Attend a Live Music Bar

Throw a Spa Party

Have you ever wanted a spa professional to show up on your doorstep with pampering products, a fluffy bathrobe, music and candles? Well, it's a real thing with Indy Spa Parties. You gather the girls and the professional brings the robes, the white sheets, music, slippers, products and luxury to you! Several services are available from pedicures to makeovers to massages and facials. There are also options to incorporate catering and wine tastings.
