Location and convenience are the most important factors to consider when searching for a hotel for your wedding guests. Hotels near the ceremony and reception are preferred. You don’t want your guests to have to travel long distances or worry about how to get from point A to point B at the end of a long night.

Once you decide where you would like your guests to stay, keep in mind how many people will be traveling from out of town and who will need overnight accommodations. You should secure at least 10-20 rooms per hotel. Once you send out your Save the Dates or invitations, it’s best to include the accommodation information so that your guests can book early. Rooms will book fast, depending on the time of year, and during the strong summer wedding months hotels sell out quickly! Also keep in mind that if you are sending your wedding invitations out during that standard 6-8 weeks prior to your wedding date, most hotels insist on a 30-day cut off -  meaning that reservations must be made 30 days prior to the date of arrival.

Making reservations online should be standard at any wedding. Ask your hotel sales manager about setting this up. This will allow you to have access to the number of reservations coming in and will help plan the correct number of welcome bags at check in.
