Kelly met Eric at their local CrossFit gym. “I thought he was extremely attractive and funny, so naturally I had to flirt with him. Most importantly, I had to beat him in the workout of the day. After beating him, I made sure to give him some tips on how to make sure he didn’t get beat by a girl again. After a lot of joking around back and forth, and beating him a few more times, we had our first date!” We love a couple that can flirt and tease each other!

The original idea for the couple’s wedding was a destination wedding, to be held in Florida. But with Kelly in medical school and on a tight schedule, they ended up keeping their wedding in Michigan. Kelly loves anything vintage, so renting out their local township’s chapel was a great choice! “The hall had plenty of space and the guests were easily able to walk right from the chapel over to the reception after the wedding concluded. The look and style was a perfect fit for me, and the convenience was wonderful for our guests,” Kelly says.

Kelly only knew what she didn’t want when it came to dress shopping--and found the perfect one right from the start! We love the antique beading and elegance of this gown!

What we love

For this wedding, the couple went D.I.Y. ...with the whole family! Kelly says, “My mother-in-law made all of our bouquets. My husband’s best man also served as the DJ. My father-in-law made the sides for dinner and appetizers for the cocktail hour. We had family friends roast a pig for us and run the kitchen. One of my really good friends is a bartender at our favorite local pub, and she absolutely killed it serving solo at our open bar. Our family and friends easily were the ones who made the wedding go so wonderfully.”

Advice from the couple

Kelly and Eric had a catchphrase for their wedding: “‘We’ll do it live!’ This meant that things aren’t going to go as we planned, but we had to roll with whatever happens and to not worry about small things because it will all work out in the end. Remember that this is a celebration of the love between you two, and to come together as husband and wife. You will get unsolicited advice from everyone, but always remember what you want! Don’t let them tell you that something isn’t possible.”
