The Indianapolis Central Library has the unique capability of offering both historic and modern spaces. The Simon Reading Room was erected in 1917 and features Indiana limestone, Vermont marble and an amazing hand-painted ceiling. The newest addition to Central Libary opened in 2007 and features a popular reception room called The Atrium. The Atrium has five-story high, vaulted ceilings with beautiful columns and arches throughout. There is also a private outdoor space called the East Garden that is both serene and impressive for ceremonies and receptions.
