A Bold and Modern Style Shoot in Detroit

When Gabriella Ammiano of V Agency had an idea for a modern, edgy shoot within Detroit, she knew she wanted to create something that pushed the boundaries of bridal style. She says, “When coming up with the concept for the shoot, I knew I wanted to do something that was modern, edgy and would appeal to young, trendy brides. At 22, I knew that my fresh view on the industry would help me create something that Detroit wedding professionals aren't used to in this area. My design quickly evolved into a wedding concept for the edgy couple; people who live their lives outside the lines and have their own unique style.”

Gabrielle knew where this vision would come to life. “Castle Hall is a relatively new wedding venue in Detroit. We had never done an event at the venue and wanted to test out the space,” says Alicia. “The uniqueness, location and design is what caught our attention. This building is one of the only castles in Detroit and was abandoned for years. The imperfections of the building worked perfectly with our edgy theme.” The offbeat style of the venue inspired the unusual, yet chic style for the shoot. It shows just how vast wedding styles can be and that couples should truly seek out a vision that represents them and perhaps not tradition.

There were many aspects of the shoot that reflected the unique style, from the black dress to the contemporary stationery. Alicia adds, “We knew that the stationery had to be bold and modern. When I sent my vision to LePenn Designs, I told her I wanted as much black as possible, with black marble accents. She ended up creating the most epic stationery I have ever seen.” The black lettering creates a moody vibe with an endlessly powerful design that draws in the eye.

“A lot of the decor in this shoot was custom made by V Agency. We built the boxwood wall, created the neon sign, custom bar and D.I.Y. marble chargers. Since we had a very specific look in mind, it was hard to find exactly what we were looking for,” says Alicia. “It was fun to be able to create custom pieces for the shoot.” Those custom pieces truly made the shoot one-of-a-kind. Instead of mass rentals that thousands of brides may use, these items are exclusive to the shoot and deliver a couple's true individuality.
