THE CHICAGO PUB CRAWL
BY SHANNON KASER // ROYAL EXCURSION
If you’ve seen the movie The Hangover then you know bachelor party memories can be lost forever. Hopefully, no one gets married or loses a tooth on the trip. Whether the party is in Vegas, around South Bend, or a full day in Chicago, it usually includes lots of drinking and embarrassing moments.
Loading up in a Party Bus or Stretch Limousine for a long day to Chicago with the boys is a beginning to a fabulous day. For starters, hit the bleachers at Wrigley Field. Even if you’re not a Cubs fan, an afternoon in Wrigleyville is a blast. After a few Old Styles, and a few more to drown your sorrows over another Cubs loss, head downtown to your favorite steakhouse. Try the endless meats at Fogo de Chao or Tavern on Rush for great food and more good times. From here, suck it up because it’s Chicago pub crawl time! Yes, a professional Pub Crawl Guide will board the bus or limo and escort you on a pub crawl tour around the Windy City. You will learn about the Chicago Gangsters and bars that some claim are actually haunted.
Those still standing can enjoy the ride home with your cooler of favorite drinks, iPod mix, and don’t forget to take embarrassing photos of the bachelor!
THE BACHELOR PARTY - GOLF STYLE
BY BRITT SIGLER // SWAN LAKE RESORT
When you think “bachelor party” it may conjure up a memory of the Tom Hanks movie scene with the wild party and the upset bride. Modern bachelor parties have evolved into more civil types of fun. One in particular, the golf outing, has become more and more popular because it tends to be smaller in nature with a controlled environment that still lends itself to a whole lot of fun.
“With these types of events we typically help with all of the planning,” explained Pat Bayley, Director of Golf at Swan Lake Golf Resort. “Our staff arranges tee times, special dinners and special accommodations that will provide a first-class event that everyone approves of!”
The resort is all-inclusive, meaning those attending the event never have to worry about leaving the facility once they arrive.
“This safety factor often takes the worry out of the event and puts most brides’ minds at ease,” said Bayley.
For those looking to host a bachelor party golf event, some simple planning with a local golf facility is important. You want to make sure you can get advanced tee times and also find out what their cancellation policy is. Does the facility have special event space for your group, whether its 4 or 40 participants? Can you get all of the plans in writing? Lastly, keep the soon-to-be bride involved as this will go a long way to make sure the event is a success!
