For many, it’s something you’ve been envisioning since you were a little girl. You even secretly created a Pinterest board shortly after you started dating…you know, just in case. You can see the white dress, the veil, the gorgeous bouquet in your mind's eye as you gracefully walk down the aisle. That aisle is like a red carpet, and it is your moment to shine!
But for a few, the idea of being the center of attention is debilitating, and you have no idea where to start, let alone what the finished product will look like. And that’s ok! Here are a few tips to help you narrow down and find the style perfect for you.
1. Find a hairstylist you feel comfortable with, who specializes in wedding hair. Look at photos of their work at real weddings and check out reviews from past clients. Working with someone that is well versed in weddings and their unique timelines will help you avoid any unneeded stress.
2. Pinterest is such an amazing tool when planning a wedding, so that you are able to organize all of the ideas that you come across. Create your “Wedding Hair” board and let the search begin! When picking a hairstyle, there are many factors to consider. Try to pin photos of brides with similar hair color and texture to your own. Don’t forget to take into consideration your dress, your veil and any hair accessories you may be wanting. You will find that you gravitate towards similar styles and are able to show these to your stylist to help you narrow down your options
3. Don’t forget to take the weather into consideration (and the possibility for rain/wind etc), as well as the location and timing of your wedding. A 3 p.m. ceremony on the beach in June is going to be much hotter than a 5 p.m. ceremony in a church in September.
4. Can’t decide between up or down? Consider changing your style after the ceremony! Many brides opt to have their stylist create a half up, half down style for their ceremony and photos, and then change to a fun up-do for the reception, which can help keep you cool as you’re cutting it up on the dance floor.
5. Keep in mind that you will look back at these photos of your wedding day for the rest of your life. The key word here is “timeless” and you want to make sure that you feel confident and comfortable with the style that you’ve chosen. The thing is, if you feel beautiful, then you will look beautiful! Happy Pinning!
