When Monika Heppe of A Great Adventure Events approached Lori Sapio Photography about doing a styled shoot at Offshore Chicago, Lori jumped on the opportunity. The team wanted to create a fun and bold shoot with lots of color and unique features. Lori adds, “The inspiration was colorful, fun, funky and flirty.” The team definitely managed to make that vision come to life.

“It’s amazing–we got into Offshore Chicago before they were officially open,” says Lori. “The main challenge was that a cloud rolled over the city right before we were about to shoot.  Instead of views of the skyline in the background, we were gifted with an amazing and diffused light.” The venue offered a unique view of Chicago and shows how the city’s shoreline is ideal for special events like a wedding.

We love the endless color the team used in this shoot. It is seen in every detail from the stationery to the florals. Lori adds, “Ellie Day’s designs are gorgeous. We chose an array of gowns to showcase in the space. Some of the gowns had sparkly fireworks on them, perfect for Offshore Chicago to view the fireworks being shot off at Navy Pier!" We love that the team aimed for a modern shoot that celebrated several types of couples and styles. It also allowed them to show off the beautiful details in their shoot in multiple ways.

Another highlight of this shoot is all the details they used. Lori says, “We used so many different seating options and textures and the amazing light was perfect for the pops of color the florals brought to the shoot.” That color was also used in the cake. “Chicago Custom Cakes made a three-tiered, Funfetti cake that matched our theme,” says Lori. This cake was the perfect addition!
