A Garden Party in Metamora, Michigan: The Real Wedding of Marjori and Spencer Shaheen

The original idea for Marjori and Spencer's big day was a garden party where they mixed together light blues and whites that featured plenty of floral details. Kara Hanes Photography beautifully captured their wedding with a light and airy look that makes it feel even more elegant! Blue and white have always been some of Marjori and Spencer's favorite colors, so they were an easy choice for their color palette. They curated many of the reception details themselves and even featured items from around their home! Speaking of home, they chose an extremely meaningful venue after looking at numerous Detroit locales and not finding one that fit. They got married in the backyard of their family's horse farm, which, with a little bit of hard work, became the perfect location to host their special day!

 

Advice From the Couple

Marjori and Spencer share, "The biggest piece of advice we can give to future brides and grooms is to stick with your gut decision, and do not leave each other's side on the day of your wedding! Try to carve out a ten-to-fifteen-minute timeframe for just the two of you after your ceremony to connect and recharge. Also, go with your gut! The morning of our wedding, we had a private breakfast together and decided there that we did not want to read our vows to our guests during our ceremony. We read them during our first look only, instead. We were so glad we did—no nerves!"
