Salon
You've flipped through dozens of wedding magazines, visited endless bridal boutiques and finally found IT. THE DRESS! Now, to top the cake with icing, it's time to find your crowning glory for your wedding day look, your bridal hairstyle! There are so many factors that go into choosing the perfect hairstyle for your big day. Here are a few tips from the G Michael Salon Bridal Team to help ease your planning!
Be True to YOU!
The most important day in your life is no time to reinvent yourself. Your husband-to-be asked you to marry him because he admires who you are as a person, which means he undoubtedly loves the way you look! Make sure that when you're planning on how you should wear your hair for your wedding, you consider the fact that there is very little appeal to your dashing groom lifting your veil at the alter, only to find a mystery woman beneath it! We recommend choosing a style that is a more sophisticated and glamorous version of a hairstyle that you would sport on any other regular day. It is wise to talk with your wedding hairstylist during your consultation, or trial session about your personality and what a typical daily hairstyle generally looks like for you.
Build a Hair-Relationship!
G Michael Salon accommodates multitudes of weddings each and every year. We are accustomed to being asked to work with brides who have been our guests for years, and thus wouldn't even begin to look elsewhere for their wedding salon. However, we regularly also work with brides who have never even stepped foot in our salon before they began planning their wedding. We love meeting new brides, and relish in the excitement of getting to know her and learn the details of her wedding -- but if we had it our way, we would prefer to work with the bride a few times prior to her wedding hair styling in order to get more familiar with her hair, her face-shape, her general styling preferences and key factors that will help take out some of the guess work during the trial session. For an example; if your stylist knows that your hair is a bit thin in your crown, she'll know without guessing when creating your up-style that you'll require more volume towards the top of your head or maybe add hair with the use of extensions to achieve the desired fullness. It's also good to keep up with your color and cut appointments prior to the wedding to ensure that your hair is in great condition on the big day. You don't want to look back at your photos down the road and think, 'I really wish I would have had my new-growth touched up! My up-style looks fabulous, but my roots could have really used some help!'
Consider Your Dress!
Remember that the style of the dress that you've chosen should play a huge role in the type of hairstyle that you select. If you're wearing a gown with a high neckline, your hair will be better suited in an up-style/updo. Whereas if you are wearing a strapless gown, you may wish to leave some hair down, or choose a lower positioned up-style. A vintage gown should be paired with a vintage style, a boho gown should be accentuated by a style that is free-spirited, imperfect, and romantic. A gown that is glittering with detail; from rhinestones to sequins to lace, should be considered the star of the show, and the hairstyle shouldn't be too busy so that it doesn't take away from it, or create an overwhelming overall look. Your hairstyle on your special day should compliment your dress, not compete with it, so bringing in a photo of your wedding dress for your stylist to consider is definitely a good idea.
Be Mindful of your Venue!
If your wedding is indoors, you truly have an endless list of hairstyle possibilities. However, if you are a bride who has chosen to wed outdoors, and especially somewhere tropical, you may wish to consider the elements. Remember that choosing a style that is firmly secured and has minimal loose tendrils is a smart choice to ensure that your style stays put and looks flawless from the walk down the isle to the send-off in the getaway car at the close of the reception! You might also choose to just be a low-maintenance bride with a half-up, beach wave style -- but don't forget to consider the heat! If you're being married in the summer, or somewhere that the temps climb, you may not want your hair hanging down your back.
Don't Forget about Accessories!
Hair accessories are all the rage on the runways for 2013-2014 Fashion, and the Bridal industry is seeing the obsession rage on as well! We used to see limited choices, like the standard veil, or a tiara, but now, brides have their pick of floral accents, broach style clips, combs, headbands, glitzy bobby pins, floral crowned wreaths, and the list goes on! Just be sure to consider whatever accessory you might use when planning for your up-style. It is imperative that you bring the accessory with you to your trial session appointment with your stylist so that he or she can be sure that the style can accommodate the piece. Sometimes a classic or simple bridal style can be taken from standard to stunning with the simple addition of an alluring hair accessory!
