Christmas is mere days away, loves, and that means those days are likely filled with countless parties, delicious dishes, drinks and baked goods galore! Not to mention, less time for hitting the gym.
Feeling guilty? Well, we're pretty excited that Laila Alieh, our WeddingDay Exclusive Fitness Expert has some brilliant ways to keep your waistlines from expanding and your minds focused on fitness, while still enjoying this great holiday season! Check out her super insightful video below! You don't want to miss it!
Hello, my beautiful brides! I understand that this time of the year can be very challenging, but, in reality, this is the time of the year I am actually the healthiest. Here are a few tips I give my "Wedding Fit Forever Brides" that I coach on how they can be healthy for the holidays. Enjoy!
- Laila
Laila's Tips on How to Enjoy the Holidays Guilt-Free:
1. Fill your plate thoughtfully.
2. Fill your plate with veggies and protein first before you add carbs.
3. Enjoy carbs as dessert. Have them last as if it is dessert.
4. Walk in between shopping, parties and be merry.
5. Staying active throughout this time is KEY. Park your car far away from the store. It's best because everyone is shopping like crazy, and if you park far, you will actually have a better chance of parking rather than waiting forever to get a spot. Burn your calories not fuel!
6. Get comfortable walking shoes on to get your steps in throughout the event.
7. Run Run, Rudolf, and Santa Claus is coming to town! Be comfortable doing it. It's that simple.
8. Don’t starve yourself before the event. If you do, you will make poor choices and mingle eat. Come satisfied but with room to enjoy the Christmas cheer.
9. Before the event, consume your water, smoothie and eat your portions like you normally do.
10. Pick your Christmas battles.
11. Find foods you absolutely love and barely have and enjoy them. For my brides, you have been trained on how to overcome this battle time and time again.
12. Limit your alcohol.
13. Be a good guest by not getting hammered and drunk. It's not elegant or pretty. Plus, you might start off the next year with a moral hangover.
14. Drink a lot of water and limit each event to 1 to 2 drinks max. Ask for soda water with a cherry to still feel like the crowd with something to sip on socially.
15. Be a good guest.
16. Help your host by helping them out while they are serving. Simple, micro-active tasks will burn away all those calories, and you will honestly be merrier in between.
17. Host your own party. If you love hosting people, then host your own party. You will burn more than those who are actually coming and munching. You will be moving, socializing and saying hello and talking a lot. Walking burns calories and you get more steps in. Should I keep going? Think about it: You are Christmas shopping, grocery shopping and cooking. That's an upper and lower body workout. Suck your core in.
18. Relax!!!
Remember this only happens once a year, so it's ok if you mess up. Think positivity that you are here on this earth surrounded by the people you love. Be grateful to be able to create special memories with them. If you messed up, follow your healthy rituals, not your regrets. If you are a "Wedding Fit Forever Bride" of mine, I have coached you on what to do about this.
