Brooks first spotted Kaitlin in a crowded bar in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Both of them were on vacation with their friends, and at first, their friends hit it off better than they did! Once the pair had to return to their home states of Maryland and Indiana, they knew they wanted to keep seeing each other. A long-distance relationship blossomed from there! After nearly four years of dating, the couple got engaged in a waterfront park. A hidden photographer captured the whole thing!
Kaitlin went shopping for a specific gown style, only to find out that what she thought would be her dream designer didn’t work for her. Instead, she was drawn to a different, more vintage style on the rack. “As soon as I put that dress on in the fitting room, before even looking in a mirror I knew it was 'the one.' It felt good without even seeing what it looked like,” she notes.
What we love
To make their first look even more special, Kaitlin’s parents surprised her with her childhood horse. And that wasn’t all the animals in this celebration! During the ceremony, the couple’s dogs accompanied the flower girls down the aisle.
Advice from the couple
Kaitlin advises future couples to not be pressured to follow tradition if that’s not what they want. “Do things because you and your spouse want to do them, not because you feel like you have to. If it doesn't feel right during planning, it probably won't feel right on the wedding day, so pick vendors that make you feel at home and comfortable.”
