Inspiration Boards: Bring Your Vision to Life!

As you plan your wedding, it is (not surprisingly) very easy to become overwhelmed with the many decisions that need to be made—especially when so many options are involved during each step of the process! An inspiration board is a wonderful (and inspiring!) way to organize the many wedding-related thoughts that occupy your mind.

Inspiration boards come in all shapes, sizes, colors and styles. Each board is entirely dependent on the bride and groom and their individual tastes. These boards are an extension of both your and your groom’s minds, helping to visually convey the looks and styles that you want to see reflected throughout your wedding day. Inspiration boards do not necessarily need to be assembled overnight. Rather, you can acquire the many “pieces” during the initial stages of your engagement and watch as the board comes together.

Magazine clippings, linens and color swatches, flowers, stationery, dresses and accessories, artwork, family photos and photography styles are amongst the many items usually found on an inspiration board. However, don’t let this limited list quell ideas and creativity! Feel free to include actual products: eye shadows, lipsticks, rhinestones, flower heads, candy, etc. Anything you find yourselves drawn to and inspired by should absolutely be included. Inspiration boards should evoke emotion as the many colors, products, textures, layers and ideas come together!

By visually putting together elements you and your groom find appealing, it is easier for you to convey your wedding day vision and style to each of your vendors, not to mention to each other and any family members or friends that may be assisting with the planning. When everyone is on the same “board”, it is easier to keep all wedding-related conversations both detailed and focused.
