This Lakefront Celebration is Filled with Romance: The Real Wedding of Brandy Hanover-Ferris and Cody Ferris

After meeting on the dating app Coffee Meets Bagel, Brandy and Cody's first official date was to a Detroit Tiger's baseball game. Cody decided to try and trick Brandy when he was going to propose. He took her to Holland's tulip festival posing it as family photos for their Christmas cards. However, that's where Cody got down on one knee and asked Brandy to marry him!
 

When Brandy went dress shopping, she had an idea of what she wanted, but the talented staff at The Wedding Shoppe helped her find exactly the gown she was looking for. Brandy raves, "I had an idea of what I wanted (A-Line) but was open to ideas. While in the changing room with my dress specialist, I asked if they had anything blue in stock, I was totally shocked when she delivered." This beautiful ivory and blue gown has stunning lace appliques on the bodice of the dress. We think she looks absolutely gorgeous in it and we love how the blue complements the lake!
 

There were a few ideas Brandy and Cody had for their wedding when they first started planning. The first was that they wanted to have their ceremony and reception in the same place, and host all their friends and family right on the shores of Lake Michigan. We think they found the perfect, picturesque spot! They also wanted to have their wedding feature some of their favorite colors. Brandy and Cody settled on a color scheme that included dusty blue, twilight blue and sage green which is perfect for the Michigan shoreline. 
 

For their wedding planning journey, Brandy and Cody utilized social media to help find their incredible vendors. "Social media was also very helpful for us to find some amazing vendors," Brandy shares, "We then would look at our vendors’ reviews to ensure that we were comfortable with the reviews." After connecting instantly with most of their vendors during their first meeting, Brandy and Cody knew they were the dream team that they needed to make their wedding day a success!
 

 

What We Love

Cody's mom was the source of one of the most special touches of Brandy and Cody's wedding day. As Brandy gushes, "A very special and unique touch to our wedding was Cody’s mom (my now mother-in-law) surprised us the night before with customized painted Snoopy rocks. She found an artist online and had several rocks customized with Snoopy in a wedding and beach theme, we decided to place these around the venue for decoration." It was a unique and meaningful way to make their venue special to them.
 

 

Advice from the Couple

Brandy and Cody advise, "We would recommend giving yourself grace and patience. You can stress and drive yourselves crazy, but things will truly work out. Enjoy the planning stages with one another, it truly makes the fruits of your labor much more enjoyable. Frustrated? Take a deep breath and work on something else, it is not worth it!"
