August Nyson of August Nyson Creative and the model of this shoot, Lauren, wanted to bring to life a boho, laid-back style shoot that highlighted organic, ethereal vibes. August says, “The vision for this shoot came to us while we were staying at a log cabin in the middle of winter. We envisioned an intimate, moody, boho, woodland wedding with touches of fairytale elements. We imagined a variety of texture with rich, earthy colors.”
The color palette was the starting point of this shoot. Wanting to pull in deep, rich colors — the team focused in on soulful colors that had authentic style. “We were inspired by the forest and natural elements, so dark forest greens, crimson, gold, toffee brown and pinks were incorporated,” says August. “Even though it was inspired by moody woodland, we still wanted warm, rich tones to saturate the environment.”
The venue for this shoot offered everything the team was looking for and more. From various outdoor features like woodlands, open fields and rolling hills—there was nothing left to be desired. The landscape was undeniably gorgeous and offered the earthy feeling the shoot needed.
The florals for this shoot are unmistakably eye-catching. August adds, “The tablescape was created with a series of bouquets and cascading greenery that surrounded the table. Molly Tiesma of Eastern Floral also created a custom natural crown made of willow branches, vines and florals weaved together. She used the woodland forest as inspiration and did an amazing job! Tyler’s boutonniere was incorporated with lace which tied all of our elements together flawlessly.”
The shoot also included several trends from the cascading tablescape florals to the gold decor pieces and floral crowns. “The greenery surrounded the front, traveled to the ground in front of the sweetheart table, and led back up the other side,” says August. “This unique trend has started to become more popular but has not been commonly used in weddings. The natural forest crown is another iteration of a popular trend. Instead of using a traditional floral crown, branches and sprigs were used to create a more earthy look.”
