The Vision

This look came together when Special Occasions received a new linen into their inventory and it grabbed everyone’s attention. Co-owner Keri Kujala shares, “The moody mix of purples, violets and mauves feels bold and romantic. I wanted to use this linen and create a mix of romantic and modern in this wedding shoot.” However, to keep the moodiness from overwhelming the shoot, the team opted to add in some soft and delicate items as well!

The Venue

Alaska Haus was the perfect modern locale to host our cover shoot. Though it is a vintage building, there are plenty of modern touches around the space! “The Alaska Haus is a picture perfect space with stained glass windows, surrounding balcony and gorgeous built-in bars along with clean and modern architecture,” Keri says. We love how the white walls balance the black accents of this shoot!

The Look

Our bride donned two stunning gowns from America's Bride for our romantic shoot. The off-the-shoulder, lace mermaid dress is absolutely stunning! We are obsessed with the long tulle train that brings a sense of regality to her look while still maintaining the modern feel. The ballgown style dress was more of a classic look that complemented the shoot's elegance perfectly. The Pretty Committee styled natural makeup to accent the bride’s beauty while her hair was brought into a casual updo to show off the neckline of the gowns. Two curls were left down to frame and draw attention to her face.

The Florals

A multitude of flowers were used to bring this vision to life. Various roses, tulips, anemones and orchids were utilized to make the bouquets, centerpieces and floral arrangements around the shoot. “The mix of these light and dark shades gave us the dramatic colors but kept the aesthetic flowy and delicate. The orchids brought that bold and delicate look,” Keri explains. We love how the white flowers pop off the linens on the guest tables, but the colorful flowers have their moment in the bouquet, especially when held against the bride’s dress!

The Cake & Desserts

This three-tiered cake from Equinox Pastries and Pops has more detail than what first meets the eye. Obviously, the bottom tier is the most eye-catching with the purple floral design. The top two tiers are all-white with textured fondant that almost gives it a fabric-like appearance, enhancing the total elegance. And the touch of berries and flowers is so chic! Watercolor frosted cookies were added as a fun bite-sized dessert option.

The Decor

The shoot's chic head table sports a floral patterned linen—the one that drew everyone’s attention—and the guest tables are adorned with plum and lavender linens. All the tables are set with gray and silver tableware that bring an air of elegance into the shoot, while the candles mounted in black candle holders add a crisp and chic look!

The Stationery

The stationery designed by The Lettering Grove brought in even more romance to the shoot with the use of torn edges and soft, romantic fonts. We love the addition of the lavender ribbons and delicate wax seals, too!
