This WeddingDay Exclusive Style Shoot, hosted by the Lodge at River Valley Farm, is a picturesque shoot that radiates romance, tranquility and charm. Located in the quaint area of Yorktown, Indiana, the Lodge is surrounded by lush woods, rolling pastures and farm fields that go for miles, yet is only a short drive from many restaurants and Interstate 69. Built in 1851, the Lodge's farmhouse was recently refurbished to give the bridal party a perfect place to get ready. Venue Director of the Lodge, Brooke Smith, says that the venue’s unique indoor and outdoor spaces have been refurbished to create a perfect blank slate that any couple will love. She shares, “This is no ordinary space and not for the cookie-cutter bride. Hand-hewn beams from the original barn built in 1850, 10-foot stone fireplace, dedicated bar room, dedicated catering room, hard-wired sound system and beautifully-appointed indoor restrooms round out this unique space for up to 250 of your nearest and dearest!”

Sarah Journay, Owner of Journay and Co., knew she wanted this shoot to revolve around the venue’s natural beauty. “This venue is stunning, and while it offers all the comforts needed for your big day, it also allows creativity to flow,” Sarah explains. “It is a relatively blank slate allowing each bride to style it however they like and truly create a one-of-a-kind vision every time!” The team chose a neutral palette to bring about a classical theme, but really let their creativity shine through the various textures used. The use of soft satin linens and white lace print brings a timelessness to this traditional wedding.

A large draw to this venue is the location. Brooke explains, “You get the quietness of being in the country with the convenience of being close to major attractions in Muncie and Anderson, Indiana. A bride won’t have to make her guests drive long distances like many of the other venues in the surrounding area to reach us.” This was ideal for the shoot because it allowed easy travel for vendors in central Indiana. The Lodge itself also provides coordinators to the couple the month of her wedding for a small fee, to make sure everything goes to plan without worry!

Other touches of the shoot bring together this neutral theme—such as the minimalist stationery created by Noteworthy Expressions. The stunning shots provided by Alison Mae Photography capture memories that will last forever with this timeless look. Sarah notes, “While giving each vendor the color palette and overall vision for the shoot, we like to give full creative freedom in each individual genius. We feel this creates the most authentic work and allows for some of the best overall shoots to be executed.”

As a family-owned business, the Lodge at River Valley Farm staff understands how important your big day is to you and your family members. That’s why they are committed to offering any bride the freedom to help accomplish the vision for her wedding. Brooke says, “We want our brides, grooms and families to truly have the experience of a lifetime and create unforgettable memories at the Lodge and we will bend over backward to ensure that happens.”
