A Romantic Lakeside Style Shoot in Southwest Michigan: A WeddingDay Exclusive Style Shoot at The Boulevard Inn & Bistro

That is why for this WeddingDay Exclusive Style Shoot, we decided to curate a captivating vision of enchantment that would nod to the allure of The Boulevard Inn & Bistro’s cozy locale in Southwest Michigan. “The Boulevard Inn and Bistro is conveniently located downtown with views of Lake Bluff Park and Lake Michigan beyond,” says Allison Sherman, Director of Sales for The Boulevard Inn & Bistro. “We are within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and scenic photos on the bluff and beach.”

Jessica Swagman of JS Weddings and Events, the planner for this shoot, says, “The Boulevard Inn & Bistro is so charming and full of character. Instead of hiding these characteristics by choosing a contrasting style, I decided to highlight all of its beauty.” It was easy to accomplish a European-like vibe in this shoot with the venue’s space. Allison describes the space, “The Library provides a nice atmosphere for intimate wedding events with bookshelves along one wall and large paned windows. French doors open to a private terrace with views of Lake Bluff Park.”

From the private terrace to the inviting, warm interiors of the event space—there is nothing left to be desired. The team brought in a bohemian feel with a colorful palette that highlights how the venue's space can accommodate any bridal trend. Jessica adds, “We started with Living Coral and then we used analogous colors like pinks and yellows to really play up the coral. I added mauve to the mix to give the palette a little more interest and create some contrast.” That contrast was the perfect touch of playfulness. Imagine your guests enjoying a delectable meal while being surrounded by unparalleled features like a romantic view of Lake Bluff Park. Couples can also indulge in an intimate cocktail out on the balcony.

Another amazing possibility with The Boulevard Inn & Bistro is the ability to offer your guests lodging and dining all in one spot. Allison adds, “Each spacious hotel suite includes one to two bedrooms and a separate living room with a wet bar, refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker and microwave, making them perfect for wedding parties getting ready and for guests to hang out during the downtime between wedding events.”

The colorful palette was a jumping point for more eye-catching points from the florals designed by Lauren Luecke to the layered, macramé backdrop and the boho-style gown from BIANKA Bridal. Jessica notes, “We chose soft and neutral items and added in gold for that old world vibe.” The built-in bookcases lent a huge hand in the style of the shoot. Their gorgeous finish complements any theme for an intimate celebration.
