A Romantic, Mauve Style Shoot in Grand Rapids

When Alicia Lutz of Events by I Candy and Paige Gabert of Paige Gabert Photography got together to plan a style shoot, they knew they wanted to put a moody twist on this classic, romantic style. Alicia says, “Our vision for this photo shoot was based around the idea of incorporating darker colors into a romantic setting, while still keeping the overall mood soft.” This theme was built around the space at GR Studio Space. Alicia adds, “We chose this venue because of its clean palette. We really wanted the colors of the floral pieces and furniture to pop off of the white walls and hardwood floor. The venue also had great natural lighting, which added to the softness of the style concept we were going for.”

In order to play off this alluring venue, the team incorporated gorgeous, soft mauve and yellow hues. This included lots of greenery within the florals and a simple, patterned stationery suite. Alicia notes, “Wine has become more of a popular color over the past few years and we wanted to stretch the palette with unique combinations using mauve and yellow, instead of the typical blush and wine combination.”

The team found the perfect dress at Spring Sweet to match their theme. Alicia says, “When we begin planning our designs for a shoot, the first thing that comes to mind is what this bride will look like. We knew that we wanted the bride to have a lace dress with a few delicate designs (short lace sleeves, beautiful silver necklace) to help to soften the overall look.” The bride was given soft curls and natural makeup for a completed, gorgeous look.
