Step into a Secret Garden in this Southwest Michigan Celebration: The Real Wedding of Kyla and Jessica Kane

When Kyla, an occupational therapist, and Jessica, a nurse practioner, met at work, they knew they weren't just meeting another co-worker. "There was a palpable connection immediately. Neither of us could stop staring at each other," Jessica recalls. "Our souls had already intertwined that first day of meeting." Jessica proposed to Kyla at Christmas so that Kyla's sister and mother—who live out of state—could be present. "It was pretty crazy because the gift she gave me were two pictures that said 'I wish I had met you sooner, so I could love you longer' and my proposal had that exact quote in it as well. I had a custom proposal written with a company that planted a tree in honor of our proposal," Jessica shares. This sentiment was reflected in their wedding when they held a small tree watering during their vows!

Both Jessica and Kyla decided to wear dresses for their wedding, and they are both stunning! When she first went bridal attire shopping, Jessica thought she wanted a jumpsuit to wear but couldn't find one she liked. Instead, she ended up with this beautiful lacy gown! She especially loved the long train and the fitted style of the dress plus all the sparkle. On the other hand, Kyla knew she wanted a classic and simple style as she is a straightforward person. She ended up choosing a gorgeous dress with a lace top and medium train. Kyla shares, "I bought my dress from Becker’s Bridal in Fowler, Michigan which is the longest operating bridal store in the country. My mother bought her wedding dress from there and it was a nice mother-daughter moment going there with her to find a wedding dress."

Jessica and Kyla's venue helped mold their personal interests into a theme for their wedding. When it came to planning, they both wanted a venue that wasn't like any they'd been to before. This locale seamlessly blended the natural world with an industrial flair. Since Kyla and Jessica both love natural looks, this venue was the perfect place for them! There weren't many additional décor items needed to make this space their own. Instead, they just added white linens and pink table runners and felt right at home!

What We Love

Aside from being the best place to unite their two families into one, the venue also helped immensely with the planning of Kyla and Jessica's wedding. "Most of our vendors were recommended from friends and/or the venue. The venue created a list of vendors that were highly recommended and used often at the venue," Jessica explains. The list that their venue compiled and vetted exclusively included vendors that were LGBTQ+ friendly to ensure that Jessica and Kyla had the wedding of their dreams.

Advice from the Couple

Jessica and Kyla advise, "Don’t stress the small details of the day. Things are obviously going to go wrong and nothing's ever perfect. What makes your wedding day perfect is taking in the moment and appreciating being with the person you love more than anything else on this earth with all of your family and friends."
