Tropical Citrus Style Shoot: A Taste of Sweet Summertime on the Shores of Lake Michigan

Photos ByKelly Sweet Photography

Waiting for summer in the Midwest is an art. We get the first whispers early in spring, only to be met with another cold spell. But once those warm breezes finally arrive for good, we can’t get enough of them! That was the feeling this team aimed to capture in their style shoot. They wanted to reflect the beauty of full summer foliage with a look that was both playful and elegant—encapsulating the full spectrum of summertime vibes. The bright, sunny yellow paired with lush, deep greens evokes memories of lying in the grass, watching the clouds drift by while the sun warms your skin. Soft pastels were woven in to mimic the blooms that hit their peak during the warmest months. With a floral-printed tablecloth, vibrant centerpieces, colorful tableware and elegant gold flourishes, the tablescape strikes the perfect balance of joyful maximalism. Fun textures—like spiral candles and flower-shaped plates—add even more personality. To keep the attention on these vivid details, the attire was kept simple yet refined. In the end, the team created a harmonious blend of elegance, fun and color—perfectly representing the essence of summer.

What We Love

We are completely obsessed with this tantalizing cake! The buttercream floral detailing is breathtaking, and the soft green hue adds a fresh, unexpected twist. The delicate ruffles bring beautiful texture and visual interest, elevating the entire look!
