When Ashley first crossed paths with Jeff, they both were studying in medical school. Sparks flew, and soon they knew they were meant to be! During a trip to visit his family in Los Angeles, Jeff asked Ashley to take a romantic walk on Malibu Beach after a delicious brunch. Jeff’s parents had decorated the area with rose petals, creating a path to a spot where he could drop to one knee. Ashley said a teary but enthusiastic 'yes!'
The couple’s original wedding date was May of 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic dramatically changed their plans. Because the two were both resident physicians, they knew they would have to postpone their wedding. Still, the couple wanted to make things official, so they held an intimate elopement at a hotel and shared the video with their family and friends afterward. “It was never what I dreamed my wedding to be, but at the end of the day I got to marry my best friend, and that’s what matters,” Ashley says.
Ashley had a clear picture of her dream gown in mind: a fitted silhouette with lace and tan undertones. She got to say 'yes' to the dress on her birthday, which was the best gift ever!
What we love
Ashley and Jeff’s love stood strong against the curveballs thrown at them from the pandemic. She adds, “My elopement was special in its entirety because out of all the horror the virus was bringing, we could still find a way to celebrate our love.”
Advice from the couple
Ashley hopes future couples remember that your wedding can be as flexible as you want it to be. “Listen to your heart. If you secretly want a smaller intimate wedding, do it! If you want that to have that big ol’ wedding, consider taking a long engagement. Ultimately, your wedding is about celebrating your love so do what’s best for you and what will make you happy!”
