Whimsical Elegance Meets Citrus Delight: WeddingDay’s Exclusive Southwest Michigan Cover Shoot

The Vision

Leigha from EXL Events Co wanted to have fun with our Southwest Michigan spring/summer cover shoot by infusing some whimsical elements while still keeping it classy. It’s no secret that color is making a comeback in the wedding world, so she decided to go with bold hues to amplify the scene. We think she created the perfect balance of vibrant colors and classic elegance for Wild Pine Photo Co. to capture!

The Venue

While wooden details and barn venues usually lend to a rustic or boho style, Twin Gables Event Center has a more elevated feel, acting as a classic place to host a wedding of any style. The vaulted ceilings make the space seem even bigger, and that chandelier in the center of the room gives it that elegant air. It feels as though our bride and groom have stepped out of the woods into a magical fairytale scene!

The Decor

Leigha combined several textures using pieces from AAYS Event Rentals’ vast collection. Between the uniquely shaped wooden chargers at the sweetheart table to the floral pattern plates and gold-rimmed china on the guest tablescapes, there are plenty of small details to love. She raves, “AAYS made the process super easy. Even with so many options to choose from, they really helped the vision come to life.”

The Florals

Marco Alexzondra Floral & Event Services knocked Leigha’s vision of bright colors and playful vibes out of the park! The various floral textures lend to the fun and whimsical theme beautifully while the bouquet lends an air of romance while keeping in the bold color palette.

The Cake

Matching the playful vibes in the shoot, this yellow three-tiered wedding cake from Homestead Kitchen is simply jaw-dropping! Partially inspired by the freshness of fruit, some dried citrus peels and fresh florals were included to elevate the design. And the dessert table wouldn’t be complete without a selection of delectable macarons and cannoli for fun handheld treats!

The Look

The style of the bride’s dress from Memories Bridal is simple and a bit vintage with its balloon sleeves and deep V neckline. We love the flowing silhouette and how effortlessly gorgeous our model looks in it! BÜK Weddings styled a stunning curled half-up hairstyle that they paired with light, natural makeup but with a pop of green on the lower lash line for a fun twist. And, they did it all from the comfort of Hitched Suites, a luxury mobile bridal suite. We love the trendy interior, boasting three beauty stations, lounge area, private restroom, mini bar and much more! Hitched Suites makes your wedding preparation a breeze, especially if your venue doesn’t have an onsite bridal suite.

The Stationery

When she shared the mood board with Michelle of Zé Design Studio, Leigha had no idea she was going to return such an artistic array of paper products! Michelle created intricately designed stationery that tied in perfectly to the design of the shoot and included floral patterns, citrus elements and even a details card in the shape of a lemonade pitcher!
