Katie and Joshua met while working at a restaurant together when they were teenagers. Katie says, “During down times at work, we would swap corny jokes and burnt CDs until our co-workers got so annoyed with us being coy and insisted that we go on a date. Seven years later, that same restaurant will be catering our wedding.”
Joshua popped the question in a super fun fashion. He used an adventurous scavenger hunt for Katie to go on that included stopping by a spa for a facial, brunch with her best friend, a manicure and more. At the end of the hunt, Katie ended up in front of her childhood home. Katie adds, “There, in front of my parents and in my childhood home, he got down on one knee and stuttered when he said, 'Katelyn O’Mara, will you marry me?' It was the most thoughtful, perfect, love-filled day.”
Joshua and Katie decided on a relaxed, woodland shoot with Kelly Marcelo Photography because of the modern and natural vibe it provided. Their down-to-earth outfits are cute and true to the Midwestern state of mind. We love that Katie also sported aboho look that is trendy and fun!
“Josh and I began the planning process a few months before we got engaged,” notes Katie. “We booked the venue, one of the most important aspects of our wedding, in March and we didn’t get engaged until June.” By starting the planning early Katie and Joshua are sure to have the wedding of their dreams.
