FAILED TO DELIVER WEDDING PHOTOS!!!!
My wife and I hired Girl With The Tattoos (Jess) to take our wedding photos in October 2023 and we still do not have our photos. Over the past year, Jess has done everything in her power to deny us of the photos of the most important day of our lives. This last year has been nothing but heartache and grief for my wife and I, as we have been ignored, lied to, and emotionally drained. We even took legal action and sued Jess.
The details:
Jess did show up to our wedding and take pictures, and we paid her several thousands of dollars to do so. However, she never sent us our album of pictures and she has been extremely hard to get ahold of and has ghosted us for months at a time... several times!... She has dodged dozens of phone calls, texts, emails, and Instagram and Facebook DM's. On rare occasions that we are able to reach her, she makes some excuse as to why she hasn't gotten to our photos yet, followed by a new delivery date that she never meets. It has been a cycle of the same lies over and over.
We got fed up with the lies and excuses, and as I mentioned, we filed a Lawsuit against Jess - a complete nightmare scenario that we never in a million years envisioned as a part of our wedding. Even through the legal process, she remained on-brand and ignored as much of it as she possibly could, even though the complaint we filed included counts such as: Violation of the Michigan Consumer Protection Act, Unjust Enrichment, Breach of Contract, and several others. I believe if there was any legitimate intent for her to fulfil the commitment she made to provide wedding photos, she would have never let it get to this point. However, she did not respond to the suit or to my lawyer and we ended up seeking a default judgement against her, which we were awarded by the judge thankfully.
If you are still considering hiring Jess after reading this far and are sifting through reviews of photographers like we were not that long ago, please allow me to try and explain the full consequence of what hiring Jess meant for my wife and I:
Because of Jess, we do not have photos of the first time I saw my wife in her wedding dress. We don't have photos of the moment we made our vows and said I do. We don't have photos of us signing our marriage license and making it official. We don't have photos of the friends and family that travelled from all over to support us and celebrate with us. We don't have photos of our first dance. We don't have photos of my mother/son dance. We don't have photos of us cutting our wedding cake. We don't have pictures of us getting emotional because we are experiencing the best moment of our lives... All of these priceless moments from our biggest life event have been lost because Jess can't put files in a Google drive and hit send. It has been extremely difficult to come to terms with the fact that these moments WERE CAPTURED, yet we can't have them for reasons we can't understand.
I strongly believe that Jess never deserves to do business as a photographer again. What she did to us was criminal (as judged by the court) and I hope no one ever has to go through what my wife and I did (and are still going through). I feel that through this experience, Jess has failed to show any respect for our marriage and has shown no remorse for her actions. Otherwise, she would have ultimately done right by us and delivered the product that we paid for. There is no excuse for failing to deliver on her promise within one full year. Instead she has pocketed our money and left us out to dry.
We never in a million years thought that this would happen to us, and we couldn't even dream of making up how this has gone. If it can happen to us, this can happen to you. If you are reading this, save yourself a lifetime's worth of heartache and look for a photographer not named Jess Robertson.
