The vision
Stepping through the majestic oak doors of Baker Street Station in Fort Wayne, visitors are immediately transported back in time to an era when railroad transportation thrived in the early 1900s. The surroundings of the historic train station are invigorating as you imagine the bustling travelers hurriedly rushing through the crowd to catch their train. Back then, the train symbolized the pursuit of opportunity and a passport to a new life for travelers.
As we envisioned a vintage theme for our photo shoot, the details fell together seamlessly with this industrial venue, completely enriched with local culture and history. The gold, ivory and blush ornamental touches accented beautifully against the hushed gold tones of the building.
the tablescape
Take the loveliness of lace, the iridescence of pearls, and the grandeur of gold, and the end result is a heart-stirring tablescape with contrasting elements that just so happen to blend effortlessly. The lace tablecloth lends itself to the vintage theme while gold and blush decorative accents deliver brilliance to the table.
A variation of centerpieces were on display from antique-like gold candelabras to towering vases, shadowed by smaller versions. The centerpieces featured a mix of pale ivory and blush flowers, rounded out by a mixture of greenery.
the jewelry
The curved neckline of the gown was emphasized by delicate freshwater drop pearl earrings anchored by Sterling Silver cubic zirconia. The earrings were complemented by a simple Sterling Silver and freshwater pearl cuff, worn around the model’s wrist.
the venue
Baker Street Station, a historic landmark in Fort Wayne, set the truly timeless scene for this classic and vintage-inspired cover shoot. Built in 1914, the station has now been restored to showcase its elegant and handcrafted woodwork, stained-glass skylights, vaulted ceilings and marbled floor.
the dress
The sheer simplicity of this #8754 Justin Alexander gown is a classic take on elegance and sophistication. Embroidered with delicate lace, the fit-n-flare silhouette hugs feminine curves throughout the bodice before cascading into a flared skirt. The Sabrina neckline curves slightly between the shoulders and dips modestly in the back bestowing an aura of drama and mystique.
the floral
The bridal bouquet is an alluring cluster of garden roses, burgundy Scabiosa flowers, peach stock, Scabiosa pods, white Veronica flowers, Dusty Miller and Battisa Greens.
Meanwhile, the centerpieces shined with Blushing Bride garden roses, Queen Anne’s Lace, white stock flowers, burgundy Scabiosa, light pink spray roses, white Veronica flowers with intermingled greenery comprised of Silver Dollar Eucalyptus and Italian Ruscus.
hair & makeup
Soft curls were swept to the side of our model’s face, leaving the spotlight on captivating red lips and long-lashed eyes. The end result was a romantic, unfinished look with a few tendrils descending loosely over the shoulders. A jeweled Great Gatsby-styled headpiece was added to create a semblance of the flapper era.
Our makeup artist dressed up our model’s sharp features, especially her green eyes with cat-winged eyeliner, dramatic lashes and expressive brows. A glamorous red lip was added to create an element of surprise to the otherwise understated look.
