Wedding planner Brittany Rogers of Dressed in Details describes the vision for this shoot as understated elegance and beauty. The idea was a collaborative effort between herself and Kai Davis of Kai Davis Photography. “As a wedding planner and florist, I had a very specific design in mind and, after a few brainstorming sessions of design, the details were collectively planned,” she says. “Then came the pretty. In our hearts, we pictured a love that is timeless and classic, a love that would easily be conveyed and illustrated immediately when viewing the images of the editorial.”
The team chose the location because of its minimalist and modern appeal. The space not only provided natural light but an exposed brick wall and the extra charm that came with it. Brittany says, “The open space allowed for effortless movement throughout the shoot and a backdrop that complemented the subtle color palette of the design.”
The bride wore a timeless “Tessa” gown by Daughters of Simone. The soft, elegant lace, high neckline and gorgeous low back gives the vintage design grace with a modern edge. “The delicate lace pattern mimics vines which tied the dress in perfectly to the rest of the shoot,” Brittany explains. The bridal look was completed using makeup and products that created a “lit from within natural flush,” a sultry eye, kissable, stained lip and romantic curls with pinned back sides.
Mirroring the timeless, classic beauty of the shoot, the color palette featured understated tones and designs, while the featured florals included Lisianthus, spray roses, stock and ranunculus. “These florals were selected so the abundance of trailing foliage would be the attention of the fragrant bouquet,” Brittany says “White hydrangeas were the focal point of the tablescape design.” Chair signs featuring minimal, scripted text were another detailed design element.
Two final details include the gorgeous three tiered lemon and fondant cake, decorated with fresh florals and a beautiful set of stationery, inspired by another suite designed by the artist.
