Megan and Taylor met through mutual friends and then bonded over their own interests. Megan says, “Taylor and I started hanging out and watching Jeopardy! together and going to breweries and the rest is history.” A few years later, the couple was in Maui for one of Taylor’s work trips where they decided to hike to the top of a volcano. It was there, during the sunrise (bonus points!!), that Taylor popped the question. Megan sums the proposal up by saying, “It was quite perfect.”
Megan and Taylor knew that they had to have their wedding at a brewery, which is why they ultimately chose their venue. She says, “We chose TwoDEEP Brewing for our venue because we knew we wanted to get married in a brewery and we loved the ambiance and things that this place could offer us. We met with their coordinators and they were wonderful to work with and the price was perfect within our budget.”
After booking with TwoDEEP, the rest of the planning went smoothly. All Megan needed was her dream dress that she ended up finding at Marie Gabriel Couture Bridal. She says, “I was looking for something that was non-traditional and had a little bit of the Gatsby feel without being too costume-y. We went to a few stores over a few days and I tried on every style so I could rule them out. Marie Gabriel was the last stop of the weekend. They pulled dresses that were along the lines of what I was looking for and we found the perfect one.”
What we love
Megan and Taylor stuck with a simple color scheme for their big day. Instead of incorporating bright hues, they opted for earthy, neutral tones. Megan says, “I chose our color scheme to be greenery and neutral. Greenery was very trendy but I also felt like it would be very timeless and chic. The architecture at the brewery was very interesting and industrial so I didn’t want a bunch of colors to distract from that.”
Advice from the bride
After planning her wedding, Megan learned that as a bride you sometimes have to put your foot down. She says, “Since my husband and I are nontraditional, we knew we wanted to get married in a fairly unique location. We wanted the focus of the day to be on the celebration aspect so we wanted a short ceremony and then lots of good food, drinks and dancing. We also wanted the focus to be on us, so we made it a kids-free day so that we didn’t have any interruptions.”
