Pink Foam Finger
Over the course of a few months, it seemed as though Suzie Lukachek had seen the same bald headed guy with dimples and a cheesy grin everywhere in their hometown of Toledo, OH. So she shouldn’t have been too surprised when she spotted him yet again on a Wednesday night out with her girlfriends. After a few comical events−including Suzie asking Nick if he had a motorcycle and him showing her a photo of the bike he’d purchased a month earlier−the couple ended up talking a good part of the night and Suzie gave Nick her phone number. He sent her a text message the next day asking her to go for a motorcycle ride, Suzie did a background check on him (hey, a bald head and dimples could have been dangerous!) and when it came out clean, she agreed to go.
BLISTERING HEAT
Their wedding style was casual yet classy and fun. The blistering heat caused their cake to melt and become lopsided, but the newly married couple was having too much fun to notice.
A COMPROMISE
“I’ve always wanted a destination wedding,” Suzie said. “I’ve never been the girl who wanted a huge wedding, but Nick did. We went back and forth about it and came to the conclusion we could compromise.”
DESTINATION: CLEAR LAKE
They ended up securing the yacht club at Clear Lake, a small lake near Angola, IN where Suzie’s family had a home and she spent many summers growing up. To be able to utilize the boats and the lake that day, the couple knew their wedding would have to be before Labor Day. It just so happened the only date open at the Clear Lake Yacht Club was August 14−giving them just four months to plan their wedding.
THE PROPOSAL
One of the couple’s early dates was a home opener at their local minor league baseball stadium. “I wore a pink foam finger around to the bars before the game and then into the game just as a joke,” Nick laughed. Then a year later, they decided to go back to the home opener. “Hey look, I got you a pink foam finger!” Nick said. He then asked Suzie to put her hand in it, where he’d placed the engagement ring.
PINK FOAM FINGER
Probably the most personal part of their wedding day was when their band broke into a song specially written for Nick and Suzie, called Pink Foam Finger. Of course, the couple had several pink foam fingers to pass out to their guests.
