An Outdoor Michigan Engagement Session: The Engagement of Sam and Riley

Sam and Riley met as seniors at Michigan State University. They were neighbors and ran into one another one day. Sam says, “Riley and his roommates were always outside, hosting bonfires, and that summer, they finally got the courage to ask me and my roommates over. It was the best summer of my life as I not only found my future husband but also a great group of friends (all part of our bridal party)!”
 

After falling for each other that summer, Riley decided that he had to pop the question. One Christmas, Sam was driving back home from her parent's house and had gotten into a car accident. She was shaken and just wanted to be back at home with Riley. When she arrived, she was surprised when Riley insisted that she just come inside and not worry about anything else. Sam adds, “I ignored him and started unloading the car anyway (having no clue he was about to propose). When I get inside, I go to the kitchen to drop off the gifts and Riley tells me to look around. I didn’t realize it initially, but there were candles all over the living room and a small box underneath our Christmas tree. I stood in the kitchen crying, realizing what was about to happen.” Riley then asked the question that changed both of their lives forever!

The couple began planning their dream wedding. “We knew we wanted to get married in northern Michigan so we wanted to find a photographer that was near the location where we would be booking our venue. We wanted to be able to book someone that would also work for our wedding day.” Rockhill Studio was in the area and was perfect for the couple.
