Lauren Chapman and Robbie Gantt of OpenField Photography wanted to create shoot that was inspired by Midwestern, autumn colors. They say, "We took inspiration from the rich tones that are associated with the season like the deep reds, mustard yellows and the warm foliage. As lifestyle and wedding photographers, it’s fun for us to style and try some new ideas and locations that we might not necessarily be able to execute on an actual wedding day.”

In order to bring their vision in life, they had to find a venue that could offer the ideal outdoor scene. Luckily, they found White Willow Farms. They add, “We selected White Willow Farms, located just north of Indianapolis. We picked this spot first because it’s beautiful! It’s a new barn venue with a simplistic style and amazing landscapes!” The outdoor space offered open fields and small, romantic woodland backdrops.

Using the organic, deep colors as a starting point, the team knew they wanted to pull in other deep colors. One highlighted color is a deep purple. “The mauve, tea-length dress that we used for the shoot was a natural choice to the shirt and tie we found for the groom,” says the team. “The dress was quirky yet timeless and fit in perfectly with the color palette.” We also love that the dress was anything but traditional. The tea-length dress was adorned with delicate lace for an unconventional look.

The florals for the shoot were lush and true to the season. The team adds, “We were so happy to work with Courtney Wiley from Violets are Blue. We chatted about the inspiration and the style of the shoot and then she worked her magic.” Courtney utilized textures and other elements like ribbon to create one-of-a-kind florals.

This shoot celebrated natural, Midwestern scenes with new style. "We wanted to create something that was modern but also timeless," notes the team. "It was most important to focus on the couple’s connection."
