A Classic Country Club Wedding in Plymouth, Michigan: The Wedding of Sarah & Caleb Hires

Sarah and Caleb met in 2016 while they were attending Michigan State. Sarah says, “We began to see each other a lot, sometimes more purposefully than others, I will admit. One Sunday morning after church, Caleb asked me if I wanted to grab a coffee and do homework together at Strangematter Coffee.” That little coffee date led to their happily ever after.

In May of 2018, Caleb knew he had to ask Sarah to marry him. It was the last semester of school and Sarah and her friend had planned a final dinner with one another. When Sarah pulled up to meet her friend, she saw Caleb in the parking lot. She knew what was about to happen. “I couldn’t even think straight. We were both smiling like goons the whole car ride as we tried and failed to make small talk. We first pulled up to the spot where we had our first date and Caleb handed me an orange with a love pun attached to it,” says Sarah. “As he took me to our special spots on campus, he continued to hand me more fruits with notes on them, the same fruits we found on the train tracks from the first date.” Caleb ended up taking her to a point that overlooked a gorgeous sunset. It was then that he got down on one knee. Sarah continues, “Right after I said yes, some of our best friends came out and hugged us and took some pictures. We called our families, and capped the night off with a party and all of our best friends!”

To start the planning, Caleb and Sarah made a list of all the things they knew they wanted for the wedding. Sarah explains, “We made a list of all of the ‘must haves’ and dreams for the wedding which helped us to stay grounded and keep the most important components of our day. That helped a lot!” The list helped to narrow their vision for the big day and they knew this way it was going to be exactly what they were looking for.

What we love

We love that Caleb and Sarah had everyone they loved most involved with the wedding. Sarah adds, “The most important thing to us would be the people that we surrounded ourselves with on that day. Our bridal party was all of our closest friends and all of our close family and friends were there too.” Your wedding day is irreplaceable and having your best friends surrounding you makes it all the more memorable.

Advice from the bride

Sarah says, “Take time to actually date each other while engaged. It can be easy to spend all of your time talking about the wedding, but it’s important to relax and enjoy being with each other.”
