A Moody Grand Rapids Engagement Session: The Engagement of Marylou and Nate

Like many modern couples, Marylou and Nate met on Tinder. They decided on a local taqueria for their first date (because who doesn’t love tacos?!). After dating for two years, Nate popped the question. Marylou says, "We had just celebrated our two year anniversary at the beginning of December, and Nate proposed on Christmas morning!" 

We love that Marylou guided Nate in the right direction when it came to ring shopping. She notes, "I follow an account on Instagram, @maejeanvintage, that is always posting the most dreamy rings. Nate went with a vintage, yellow-gold band with a moonstone. It sort of reminds me of a talisman. It’s truly unique and beautiful."

Choosing a photographer was a very important decision for the couple. Marylou explains, "We asked for suggestions through friends, and Mallory came highly recommended. After checking out her work, we knew she was the one!" 

When it came to planning their wedding, the couple had a hard decision to make. Marylou says, "Neither one of us wanted a big wedding. We went back and forth between having the whole big thing, or just going to the courthouse. In the end, we decided on having a friend marry us at my dad’s house followed by an outdoor reception." We love that this couple is staying true to themselves on one of the most important days of their lives!
