A Indiana Countryside Engagement: The Engagement of Shelby and Augie

It was a match for Shelby and Augie when they met on Match.com. Shelby says, “I had never been so nervous for a first date, and afterward, I remember looking out the peephole of my apartment door watching him leave and thinking that something about that date had been different. Something just clicked, and we’ve basically spent every day since then together.”

Augie proposed during his birthday party, the perfect time when both of their families were gathered to celebrate. Augie and his six-year-old son both got down on one knee and asked Shelby the big question: “Will you marry us?”

Shelby wanted her ring to stand out, and Augie made just the right choice! When the couple started to look at outfits to wear for their session, they kept a color scheme in mind. “We went for three outfits for three themes–comfortable and casual for starting out, romantic with soft colors for the pictures in the field and neutrals for our water pictures,” Shelby explains. 

When researching photographers, Alison Mae Photography was an immediate choice for this session. “Her photography website just happened to pop up as a suggested page on my Facebook,” Shelby says. “I was immediately in love with the pictures that I saw on her page, and so I sent her a message. She was so quick to reply, and we scheduled a phone date, where I immediately felt like Alison was a friend that I was just catching up with. I knew pretty quickly that I wanted her to be a part of our special day, and after our engagement session, Augie and I felt so great about our choice in Alison.”

This couple has taken to heart what others have suggested when it comes to wedding planning. “I’ve enjoyed talking to friends who have recently gotten married to see what they loved most about their wedding, or what they would have changed if they could go back and do it again.” They’re so happy that the vendors they are currently working with match well with their personalities, and are working to bring about a fabulous day for them.
