A Woodland Wonderland Engagement: The Engagement of Dori and Austin

Dori and Austin met when they were in college, but stayed “just friends” until graduate school. The proposal came during the annual Christmas party at Austin’s workplace. Dori says, “After the proposal, he invited a group of our closest friends to surprise us for the night. Then, we ended our night in the fanciest hotel I’d ever stay at, followed by brunch with our family the next day. I was completely surprised in the moment, and he kept me on my toes with surprises the whole weekend!”

Dori’s ring comes from Brilliant Earth, a company whose values (and styles!) she admires. Dori says Austin turned a little frantic when he realized he ordered a ring two sizes too small, but it all worked out in the end!

The couple chose Inna Kova Photography based on a friend’s recommendation. Dori says as soon as she saw the Instagram photos, it would be a perfect match!

When choosing outfits for this shoot, Dori waited until the night before. She ordered her dress off Amazon but felt that it was too low cut. Austin swooped in to the rescue and sewed her dress until it was the right length. “Such a handy, heartfelt man!” Dori gushes. “It made the dress extra special.”

This couple has gone to many weddings together, so they have a rough idea of what they want for their wedding. While life might be a little hectic with Austin and Dori when closing on a new house and taking new jobs, they know the most important parts of their day will be the people they invite, the photographer, the videographer, and the DJ. All the rest of the details will just fall into place!
