Even though Sarah and Tim went to the same high school, they weren’t properly introduced until after Sarah graduated. Sparks flew after they bonded over karaoke and seven years of dating flew by! Tim popped the question on the pair’s first couple’s vacation.
Because Sarah worked in catering for six years, she already had every detail of her big day planned out...except her dress. After seven shopping trips, she finally found 'the one'! “I was so in love with this dress and couldn't stand the thought of wearing it only once, so I dressed up as a zombie bride for Halloween, just a few weeks post-wedding,” Sarah adds. “Needless to say, I won the work costume contest.”
What we love
Sarah lost her mother suddenly just before she got engaged, so she worked to include plenty of special touches that honored her. Sarah wore her mother’s ruby necklace, included an empty seat with flowers and lights for her in the dining area and even had the beading of her mother’s wedding gown sewn onto her veil.
Advice from the couple
Sarah urges couples who plan to D.I.Y. to get as much done upfront as possible. “I was obsessive about keeping and sticking to a to-do list and timeline, and I still felt the pressure during the last two-three weeks before the wedding. Doing as much as you can as soon as you can will help to eliminate the last-minute stressors!”
