There is nothing more romantic than a sunset walk on the beach with someone you love. Obviously, a sunset style shoot on the beach should be just as romantic, right? Mikayla Bronkema of Mikayla Jean & Co. had the same thought as us and decided to shoot two different couples at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes in an elopement style shoot.
The origin of this shoot came from the two dresses the brides are wearing! "I was inspired by the new wedding dress trends," Mikayla explains. "Both whimsical, adventurous gowns and the mid-length white romantic dress are both styles I see increasing in the wedding industry!" We think each of the dresses chosen brings out a different element in this shoot. The longer dress brings a dreamy and airy look to the shoot while the mid-length dress has more of a classic feel.
Mikayla wanted the colors of the shoot to match those of the sand and the sunset. "The beachy and neutral tones and textures were very intentionally selected for the floral arrangements," Mikayla says. To add more texture, a mixture of dried and live flowers were used in the bouquets. Kirk, the groom of the bride with the whimsical dress, also chose his attire to resemble the sand.
You may have noticed there isn't much decor to this shoot. That didn't happen on accident! "There are not many large details included in this shoot and that was also intentional," Mikayla explains. "I wanted to show that simple details can create beautiful looks and styles. It’s all in the small details that leave a bold impact!" And we totally agree!
