When Jacquelyn from Jacquelyn Taylor Photography met Liv of Liv Vincent Photography, the two bonded over a love of the TV show Outlander. From that came the idea for this shoot! "We loved the idea of creating a modern twist on an early 1900’s style," Jacquelyn gushes.
They knew exactly what they wanted when looking for a venue for the style shoot. To truly emulate Outlander, they wanted old architecture and overgrown gardens. With luck, Liv had previously shot at a venue that was perfect for this shoot. "She told me about it as a possible location idea, and we fell in love," Jacquelyn raves. "It was like walking right into a fairytale, which is exactly what we were going for." The contributing decor was from thrift stores, local shops or Jacquelyn and Liv's collection to keep the theme both modern and vintage.
In fact, the venue inspired the color scheme! Since they knew all of the nature around the venue, they wanted to make sure the shoot was cohesive. As Jacquelyn explains, "So we took the garden inspiration and went for it. I really think the florals that Hannah added in Sarah’s hair gave it the perfect touch to tie all of the tones together."
Keeping with the theme of the shoot, the hair and makeup artists chose a simple style. What's best is that Jacquelyn and Liv only gave the stylists a mood board and color palette, and they were able to match the theme beautifully! They also complemented the bride's natural beauty wonderfully.
The bride's dress was sort of a stroke of luck. Jacquelyn admits, "To go along with the vintage look that we were looking for, we knew we wanted an older style with a modern touch. Luckily, Sarah, the model, had this dress in her shopping cart and it turned out to be a perfect look for the shoot!" Jacquelyn and Liv were able to find some ideal outfit pieces for the groom as well!
