Even Winter Flowers Can Be Beautiful in this Grand Rapids Style Shoot

The vision behind this shoot was to show the beauty of nature even in the winter. "Imagine a windswept field covered in a blanket of snow. Bits of dried remnants of fall peek through the freshly fallen snow, creating a beautiful juxtaposition of nature's beauty," Laura from Truer Design gushes. 
 

Everything for the shoot came together perfectly to bring Laura's vision to life. The venue was the ideal spot for the shoot because it brought in a touch of industrial without distracting from Laura's idea. Laura shares, "I love that they already had lounge furniture we could choose from." We think the venue is the perfect backdrop and adds plenty of earthy tones and whites to create the feeling of winter nature!
 

Laura's vision also included different textures. From the wooden chairs to the linens all the way to the brick wall, there are so many contrasting details to this shoot that make the soft flower petals stand out. We love the way Laura used charcoal in her tablescape to make the white elements really pop, too.
 

The dress for the shoot was actually assembled to meet Laura's vision. "I wanted something whimsical and ethereal," Laura explains. "And because it was winter, I wanted sleeves. We started with the gown and added the tulle skirt. The sleeves were removable." For the hair, Laura opted for a low bun to bring in a romantic and elegant feel.
 

Obviously, you can't show off nature without some beautiful floral accents, but, not just any flowers could be used. Laura wanted it to be a realistic shoot. "I used dried elements gathered from my own backyard to be authentic to my vision," Laura admits. Some live flowers were also added to make the space seem fuller.
