As part of our annual Style Shoot Design Contest, sponsored by AAYS Event Rentals, Becky Lynn Photography helped a team of talented creatives design a wedding style shoot that was dark and moody to match one of our 2022 themes, "Til Death Do Us Part". We love the way they pulled off this Halloween-inspired look that perfectly blends edgy and industrial!
Just like we do each year, we asked the Style Shoot Design contestants to include the 2022 Pantone Color of the Year, Very Peri. Becky and her team decided to utilize Very Peri in the floral displays around the shoot. You may notice something different with the florals, too, as Becky wanted to create a unique look for this shoot. "I wanted to create a dark and moody vibe but with a twist so I used twigs for the arch instead of traditional florals," Becky shares. Becky even incorporated flower types she had at her wedding for a personal touch to the shoot!
Becky also chose to pair Very Peri with red and black to amplify her moody scene. This is best represented in the tablescape, which was a bit of a challenge for Becky and her team. Becky explains, "My biggest challenge was what centerpieces I wanted for the table. I wanted to use something different and unique." We think she did an incredible job creating a look that was like no other! We love the mystical and almost magical feel the team created with this shoot.
One of our favorite touches is the stationery Pauline with PSR Designs created for this shoot. Becky raves, "I reached out to my good friend Pauline and gave her colors and the general theme but she came up with the rest. It was amazing to see what she came up with!" Pauline hit the spooky and moody Halloween nail right on the head. It meshes beautifully with the rest of the décor in the shoot. We also love that moody cake! The addition of the flowers and gold flakes bring in a touch of elegance to this otherwise offbeat shoot.
No style shoot would be complete without a glamorous wedding dress! Becky's original idea was to have a champagne or ivory-colored ballroom or mermaid gown paired with a leather jacket. After looking at a couple of dresses that fit the style she had in mind, Becky ended up choosing a black dress instead. We love that this black gown is elegant but perfectly matches the moodiness of the shoot and adds to the overall look! The bride's darker makeup is a wonderful addition, as well as the crown and black veil.
